Makiel Swift 'Mikey'

January 21, 1975 — September 25, 2015

On Friday, September 25, 2015 our loving father, son, brother and friend, Mr. Makiel Swift Sr. was called home to receive his wings after 40 blessed years of life. He was born January 21, 1975 in Saginaw, Michigan to Anderson Sr. and Ruth Swift.
Makiel, affectionately known as Mikey, attended Houghton Elementary School until his family relocated to Oakland, California. There he attended Carter Middle School and was a 1994 graduate of McClymonds High School. He went on to attend Contra Costa Community College in San Pablo, California where he was a valuable asset to the football team as well as the track and field team. Mikey was employed as a cook at Magic Kitchen and worked as a barber in his spare time. His presence will be truly missed.
He leaves to cherish his memory his children, Sabree Swift, Makiel Swift Jr. and Troy Swift, all residing in California; father, Anderson (Jean) Swift Sr. of Stockton, California; one sister, Sharon Winnie Swift of Saginaw, Michigan; three brothers, Bobby (Euretha) Brandon of Gadsden, Alabama, Phillip (Tiffany) Evans and Anderson Swift Jr. both residing in California; grandparents, Judy Henderson of Saginaw, Michigan and Milton Charlie Swift Sr. of San Pablo, California; aunts, Mary Lou Swift, Gwendolyn Howard, Cora Henderson, Juanita Holmes, Hattie Ruth (John) Cotton, all of Saginaw, Michigan, Gloria (Pastor Johnnie) Butler of Shreveport, Louisiana; Yolanda Bell of Phoenix, Arizona, Charlotte Swift of California, Hattie Ruth (Roger Jr.) Harris, Elgia (James) Curtis of Louisville, Mississippi; his honorary aunt, Gloris Griffin of Houston, Mississippi; uncles, Donald Henderson and Pastor Johnie (Sylvia) Edwards of Saginaw, Michigan, Albert (Gwen) Edwards, of Louisville, Mississippi; great-aunt and uncle, Ruthie Hughes and Robert Edwards, of Louisville, Mississippi; nineteen nieces and nephews; many other relatives and friends including his endeared cousins, Reather Swift-Lloyd, Ben Coleman and Larry Burton; his endeared friends, Melvin Lloyd, Clarence Brown, Telly Brookins all of Saginaw, Michigan, and Timmy Dorsey of Antioch, California;
Mikey was preceded in death by his mother, Ruth Swift, grandparents, Michael and Virginia Edwards and Ezell Henderson, three uncles, Larry Edwards, Henry Earl Miller and Milton Charlie Swift Jr., three cousins, Emanuel Curtis, Walter Edwards and Charlie Milton Hayes.
