Mae H. Mcgee (Lansing)

September 28, 1950 — July 11, 2019

Mae H. McGee was born on September 28, 1950, in Gurdon, Arkansas to wonderful parents Jessie Lee Williams and Theadosie McPeak Williams. She was the second of four children born to this union. Her parents instilled strong family morals and a strong belief in God.

Mae’s family relocated to Lansing, Michigan when she was a young child trusting God would provide greater opportunities. The family joined St. Paul Church of God in Christ, now known as Robinson Memorial. She received her formal education through the Lansing School District, graduating from Eastern High School in 1969. Upon graduation, Mae united in marriage to Robert Blair, two daughters were born to this union: Sonya and Stephanie Blair. Upon dissolution of this marriage, Robert and Mae remained good friends and successfully co-parented their children.

Mae began working for the State of Michigan as a non-career, non-benefit Data Coding Operator during the income tax season of 1971 until being promoted to permanent employee status in January of 1976. Mae retired from the State of Michigan after 26 years of dedicated service. At the time of retirement, in 2002, she was a Calculations Assistant in the Treasury Department, Collections Division. Then she became a licensed Real Estate Agent for Greenridge Realty.

On July 21, 1979, Mae married her best friend and soul mate, “Bob” McGee. Together they shared a long loving relationship for 40 plus years. This union produced a daughter, Jennifer McGee, and stepdaughter, Natasha Bryant (McGee). After the passing of her daughter Stephanie in 2007, Mae raised and nurtured her granddaughter Brianna Mae Blair.

Mae was known for her large family dinners where she showed her love by providing items on the menu that she knew certain people loved including but not limited to, corn casserole, sweet potato pie, pistachio pudding, and chocolate milk. As a matter of fact, she took over the family dinners when she was still living at home with her parents. She loved to watch basketball, football, and golf with Bob and her son-in-law Kevin. Mae was very knowledgeable and able to converse on each sport with confidence. She also loved traveling.

On July 11th, 2019 with her loving and caring sister, Suzanne Minter by her side, Mae transitioned to her heavenly home putting the “Three Musketeers” together again - Jessica, Robert, and now Mae. Age 68 years.
