Lucille Hicks

June 4, 1942 — June 13, 2018

Lucille “Lucy” Hicks was born June 4, 1942 in Hennings, Tennessee. She was a graduate of Lauderdale High School prior to beginning her career in healthcare. Lucy was no stranger to hard work and she retired from Osteopathic Hospital and Saginaw Public Schools Transportation. While in Saginaw, she was a faithful member of Prince of Peace Baptist Church. Lucy loved traveling, sewing, fishing, cooking and knitting. She was a friend to many and maintained friendships with her classmates and co-workers throughout the years. She had a very special friendship with Mrs. Tanya Vaughn, whom she worked with at the Osteopathic Hospital. Children were drawn to her kind spirit and she was known in her neighborhood as the Candy Lady. Lucy cared for her children and grandchildren with the greatest of love. She was a dedicated mother and grandmother with a keen sense of humor and impeccable wit. She was a woman of grace, strength and inner peace. Lucy could warm any soul and soothe any worry. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

On Wednesday, June 13, 2018, Lucy left her temporary home for her eternal one, where she joined her husband, Austin Hicks; mother, Louise Wilson; and stepdaughter, Ponice Hicks, who all preceded her in death.

She leaves to carry on her legacy six children, Bobby, Benny, David Harrell, Janice (Terry) Merriweather, all of Saginaw, Michigan, Calvin (Beckie) Harrell, Durham, North Carolina, Curtis (Ramona) Harrell, Fort Worth, Texas; three brothers, George Wilson, Lathan (Kim) Wilson, Jerome (Shelona) Wilson; one sister, Brenda (Charlie) Wilson-Dillard; stepdaughter, Aquila Hicks-Flinnon, Saginaw, Michigan; fifteen grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

The family extends a special thank you to Health Source, Covenant Healthcare, Dr. Minoo Khetarpal, and everyone for your many kind expressions of love and concern extended to our family during this time of bereavement.
