Louis Frank Deweaver, Jr. (Dimondale)

Mr. Louis “Lou” Franklin DeWeaver, Jr. passed away Sunday, June 20, 2021, at his residence in Dimondale, Michigan. Age 83 years. He was born on May 30, 1938, in Birmingham, Alabama, the son of Louis Franklin DeWeaver, Sr. and Naomi Parker.

Lou was a resident of Dimondale, Michigan but spent his early years in Detroit, Michigan. He graduated from Northern High School. Louis attended Highland Park College and the University of Maryland. He entered the United States Air Force soon after graduating high school. Lou achieved the rank of Technical Sergeant and received numerous awards while in the United States Air Force including Airman of the Month at Edwards Air Force Base in 1966 and the Meritorious Service Medal. Lou moved back to Saginaw, Michigan where he was a United States Air Force recruiter for several years. He was honorably discharged in 1978.

Lou was an avid bowler. He started out as a pinsetter in a bowling alley as a child. While in the military, his bowling team, known as the “Magnificent 7”, were the SAC bowling champions. Lou continued in the sport of bowling after retirement. He managed Timbertown, Americana, and the Bowlium bowling alleys in Saginaw. Lou bowled in numerous leagues over the years and enjoyed bowling with his longtime love, Debbie. He achieved numerous 300 games and 800 series over the years. Lou was inducted into the Saginaw Bowling Hall of Fame in 2004. He made many lifelong friendships in the bowling alley. In addition to bowling, he enjoyed golfing, playing cards, going to the casino, and playing the lottery.

Lou loved spending time with family and adored his chihuahua, Moxy.

He leaves to cherish his memory 4 daughters, Courtney Steward, Dimondale, Michigan, Deidre Steward, Saginaw, Michigan, Lisa DeWeaver, Phoenix, Arizona, and Tracy Tisby, Saginaw; son, Louis “Shawn” DeWeaver, III, Midland, Michigan; grandchildren, special grandson, Marcel DeWeaver, Terrance Tisby, Tyesha, Karee and Leah DeWeaver; nieces, Charlotte and Sonia Parker; sisters-in-law, Michele Major and Linda Stuckey-Washington; brothers-in-law, Don (Odessa) Steward and Gregory (Alma) Steward; many other relatives and friends including special friends, Rick Larue, Charles Macklin, Tim Lowrey, and many other friends in the bowling community.

He was preceded in death by his beautiful and loving partner of 38 years, Debra Steward; parents, Louis DeWeaver and Naomi Becton, stepfather, Munson Becton; brother, Norman Parker and many other cherished family and friends.

The family would like to express special thanks to Sparrow Hospital 4 South Staff, Sparrow Hospice and nurse, Raina; friend and caregiver, Jeremy Sproat, and his daughter, Courtney for selflessly and lovingly caring for her father for many years.
