Lindsey Mitchell, Sr.

January 1, 1953 — May 7, 2020

Mr. Lindsey Mitchell, Sr. was born January 1, 1953, the son of Charles Mitchell and Odie Shadwick. He ceased from his labor and found sweet rest with his Savior on Thursday, May 7, 2020 at the age of 67 years.

Lindsey was a graduate of Northeast High School in Lauderdale, Mississippi, “Class of 1972.” He later moved to Saginaw, Michigan and became employed with General Motors Corporation. He was active with his local UAW and worked diligently for over thirty years before retiring.

Lindsey was a faithful and dedicated member of House of Prayer Apostolic Church under the leadership of Elder James Lewis. He served as a deacon of the church and in other capacities wherever there was a need. Deacon Mitchell was also very active in his community. He loved helping others and giving, and was part of the CAC Unity in Action Committee. In his spare time, his hobbies were gardening and antiquing.

More than anything, Lindsey was a family man and loved his wife, children and grandchildren to no end. Our father has been reunited with our mother and we are grateful for the legacy of love, family and service they have left us.

Lindsey was preceded in death by his wife, Diana Mitchell; parents, Charles Mitchell and Odie Shadwick; brothers, Vincent and Michael; nephew, Antoine Johnson; mother and father-in-law, Fannie and Rufus Bryant; brother-in-law, Timothy Bryant.

He leaves beautiful memories with his children, Deanna Bryant, Saginaw, Michigan, Kamisha and Lindsey Mitchell, Jr., both of Mesa, Ariona, Camille and Avery Mitchell, Phoenix, Arizona; grandchildren, Kimari, Diamond, Ira III, Cameron, Mariah; sisters, Anna (Anthony), Annie Mitchell, both of Chicago, Illinois, Janise Mitchell, Tanya; brother, James; nieces, Ashley Bryant, Saginaw, Michigan, Michelle Chester, Newport News, Virginia; nephews, Tyler Carlisle, Birmingham, Alabama, Anthony Johnson, Chicago, Illinois; aunts, Vera Lowery, Grand Rapids, Michigan, Martha Williams, New Castle, Lurene Clark, Meridian, Mississippi; uncles, Marvin (Norma), Eugene (Ruby), Mosby (Pamela) Clark; sister-in-law, Brenda (William) Page; many other relatives and friends.

The family would like to express special thanks to House of Prayer Church, Ivan E. Phillips and the Staff of Paradise Funeral Chapel.
