Lillie B. Griffen entered the gates of heaven on Thursday, November 22, 2012, at Magnumcare of Saginaw. Age 95 years. She was born June 11, 1917 in Shreveport, Louisiana to Isaac and Josephine Taylor.
Lillie retired from Robinsons Laundry after twenty-five years of service as a Press Operator. She enjoyed many activities such as, gardening, cooking, sewing, shopping and knitting. She was a long-time faithful member of Mount Olive Institutional Missionary Baptist Church, where she enjoyed singing in the choir.
She leaves to cherish her memory one daughter, Vera M. Toney; four grandchildren, Joseph Griffen, Margaret Toney-Pollard (Alvin), Deborah and Valerie Toney. She also leaves seven great- grandchildren, LaTasha and LaTonya Toney, MacKangela Williams, AntaJuan Rodgers, Jalen Toney, TreQuan and Stacey LaFond; four great-great grandchildren, James Haynes-Allen, Tyanna Toney, JaNae Willis and Caleb Willis; one niece, Maxine Martin-Bryant, Savannah, Georgia and great-nephew, Jonathan Bryant, Indianapolis, Indiana. In addition to family she also leaves many friends to cherish her memory.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Isaac and Josephine Taylor; three brothers, Bo, Rufus, and Isaac Taylor; one sister, Carrie Horton; her husband, Arie Griffen; a grandson, James Griffen; one great niece, Mayosha Martin-Bryant; and one great-granddaughter, Alicia Toney.
