Mr. Leon Capers Murph made his transition on Tuesday, May 17, 2022, at Sparrow Health Systems, Sparrow Campus in Lansing, Michigan. Age 64 years. He was born on June 11, 1957, in Detroit, Michigan to the union of Edward (Eddie) and Bobbie Mae Murph.
Leon was educated in the Detroit Public School system. He graduated from Cooley High School in 1975. After graduation, Leon joined the Armed Forces of the United States. After earning an Honorable Discharge, he moved back to the Detroit area.
Leon accepted Christ and was faithful in witnessing to people about the goodness of the Lord. He was a member of Life Changers Church when he lived in Detroit. He belonged to a fellowship of men at the church called the Bomb Squad. Leon was a faithful member. They would meet at 6:00 a.m. on Saturday mornings. He ministered to others about what God could do. He was a living example. While working, Leon decided to go to college to receive his bachelor’s degree from the University of Phoenix. He eventually relocated to Lansing, Michigan.
Leon was employed with Oakley Transport. When he wasn’t working, Leon was spending time with his family and friends and going to the gym. He loved being around his family. He would attend family functions and holiday dinners. Leon enjoyed coming by to visit. Even as his condition continued to deteriorate, he had time to pray for others in his hospital bed. He knew that God would bring him through one way or the other. Leon was at peace.
He leaves to cherish his memory and celebrate his life, his children, Brittni and Carlos; grandchildren, Paris, Aubree, Rozlynn, and Maria; great-grandchildren, Giamauri and Elaina; loving mother, Bobbie; sister, Phyllis (Gregory); many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Edward.
