Lawrence G. Bowen

April 6, 1953 — December 14, 2019

Deacon Lawrence G. Bowen was born April 6, 1953 in Bassett, Arkansas to Joe Sr. and Ozie Bowen. He went from labor to reward on Saturday, December 14, 2019 at the age of 66 years.

Deacon Bowen was a graduate of J.M. Speck High School in Frenchmans Bayou, Arkansas. He later moved north to Saginaw, Michigan where he began working for General Motors Corporation. He worked faithfully for thirty-five years before retiring.

Deacon Bowen was a man that loved the Lord and shared his testimony with everyone that would listen. In February 2013, he was ordained as a deacon at St. Paul Baptist Church under the leadership of Dr. Vincent McMillon. He also served as Sunday School teacher and he studied his Word diligently to show himself approved.

Deacon Bowen enjoyed sports, fishing, shooting pool with the guys and spending time with his grandchildren. He was a big fan of football, both college and professional. Our loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend has found sweet rest and we will forever cherish him in our hearts.

Deacon Bowen was preceded in death by two children, Samuel Bowen, Arne Lincoln; parents, Joe Sr. and Ozie Bowen; grandparents; sisters, Sorene Cooper, Pallastine Mays, Ollie Brown; mother and father-in-law, Eddie M. Page and George Barnes; brothers-in-law, Sylvester Mays, Milton Watkins, Michael Walker, William Page; several aunts, uncles and cousins.
