Larry Carethers

January 28, 1955 — February 22, 2020

Mr. Larry Darnell Carethers was born January 28, 1955 in Saginaw, Michigan to Buster and Annie (Pulliam) Carethers. He peacefully transitioned from this life on Saturday, February 22, 2020.

Larry attended Saginaw Public Schools and graduated from Saginaw High School, where he played varsity basketball. He worked at Sullivans for many years and was also employed at General Motors.

Larry was a family man and he enjoyed being around his family and friends. He loved listening to music, all genres, and would often ride around town just listening to the radio. A self-proclaimed chef, Larry loved cooking, especially cooking meals for his family. His love for life and sense of humor will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Buster and Annie Carethers; son, Demario Lee Bassett; brothers, Leroy and Bernard Carethers.

He leaves precious memories with his loving wife, Alicia Carethers; daughters, Diana Cooper, Selina Walker, Tarenia Patterson, Shanelle and La’kiyla Carethers; sons, Ryan Carethers, Larry Patterson, Jemario (Mary) Bassett, Wayne Bonner, Jr., Daniel, Romance, Larry, Neeko, Kingdom Carethers; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brothers, Cicero Davis, Benjamin Carethers; two special nieces, Demetria and Debra Carethers; one special nephew, Charles Carethers; many other nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, including special friends Howard Johnson and Stevie Trapp.

The family would like to express special thanks to Hospice Care, Larry’s grandson Deshaun Cooper, Ivan E. Phillips and the Staff of Paradise Funeral Chapel.
