Kenyatta Charmaine Rogers

August 25, 1984 — November 14, 2021

Our beloved Kenyatta Charmaine Rogers transitioned from the cares of this world on Sunday, November 14, 2021. She was born August 25, 1984 in Saginaw, Michigan to the late Karen Rogers-Perkins and Charles Wallace.

Kenyatta confessed her life to Jesus Christ at an early age. She was an entrepreneur and had many talents. Kenyatta loved children and was a wonderful mother. This alone directed her on the path to become the owner and operator of New Start Child Care, and K & J’s Popcorn Treats. Kenyatta was a beautiful soul whose outer beauty came out with her love of nails and hair, and that beautiful smile that led us to call her MS. DIMPLES!! Kenyatta’s strengths and good family-oriented lifestyle easily was inherited from her mother Karen, and grandmother, Katherine.

Her legacy will live on in her parents Charles (Marlene) Wallace and John Perkins; four beautiful children, Janiya Rogers, Jaylen Rogers, Joseph Morales and Earnest Maclin; eight sisters, Sharon King, Denishia (Jerry) Wallace-Abbott, Rosheika Harris, Shareika Wallace, Tameka Perkins, Kiarra Solomon, Shatina Quinn and Keisha Frazier; five brothers, Kendrick Rogers, Kentrez Frazier, Kendrell Rogers, Johnathon Perkins and John Perkins Jr.; four aunts, Gerlene Rogers, Pamela Rogers-Sample, Lawanda Rogers, and Barbara Wallace-Queen; an adopted aunt, Jackie (Lorenzo) Jacocks; ten uncles, Anthony Rogers Sr., Aaron Sr. (Paula) Rogers, Eddie Rogers Jr. (Leslie), Lacy Rogers, Irie Sr. (Carolyn) Sample, Jimmie (Lisa) Taylor, Marcus (Lodie) Rogers, Ray (Shirley) Wallace, Buddy (Victoria) Wallace, and Robert Wallace; first cousins she grew up with and remained close to, Treniece Parker, Anthony Rogers Jr., Jamiece Taylor, Benjamin Batts Jr., and Nakeya Rogers-Wills; her best friend, Devonda Thomas, and a very special love, Jason “Purple” Tarver; a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and an abundance of friends and day care children that loved her so very much.

Kenyatta was preceded in death by her grandparents, Katherine Rogers-Sample and Carter Sample, Eddie Rogers Sr. and Gladys Rogers, Maxie Wallace Sr. and Eloise Wallace; uncles and aunts, Yalita Rogers, D’Angelo Suggs, Henry Wallace, J.W. Wallace, Maxie Wallace Jr., Mary Wallace and Betty Wallace.

The family wishes to express special thanks for the overwhelming support of the community.
