Kawana Tamira Carter Nyamekye

Ms. Kawana Tamira Carter Nyamekye went home to be with her Lord on Friday, December 17, 2021 at Covenant HealthCare Cooper in Saginaw, Michigan. Age 44 years. Kawana was born January 12, 1977 in Saginaw, Michigan, to Mary F. Carter and MacArthur Turner.

Kawana was a resident of Saginaw, Michigan. She was a graduate of Saginaw High School, Class of 1996, and was employed by Saginaw Public Schools as a bus driver for many years. Kawana also worked as a nanny for various doctors. She loved taking care of children. Unfortunately, Kawana did not have biological children, but God blessed her on February 6, with an amazing, beautiful and intelligent daughter, Nehemiah. Kawana was a member of Greater Bible Way Temple in Pontiac, Michigan where she was baptized on July 19, 2020. She sang with the choir and loved attending church and Bible Study. Kawana loved music, singing, writing poetry, and shopping for tennis shoes. Most of all, Kawana enjoyed spending time with her daughter. Kawana will be missed by family and friends who loved her dearly.

Kawana leaves to cherish loving memories her husband, Prince Nyamekye; daughter, Nehemiah; mother, Mary Carter; grandparents, Eli and Alberta Dudley; sister, Doretha Dudley; brother, Horatio Turner; special nieces and nephew, Troyvonna Randle, Chantroya Randle, and Troy Randle Jr.; uncles, Dave, Thomas, James, Charlie, and Dwight; great-nieces and nephews, Davontroy, Sunday-Rose, JaMarria, JaNiyah and DeQuaves; godchildren, MyLeia Washington, MyKayla Washington, Jaqaveous Lewis, Rayne Lewis, De’Treon Lewis, and Harmony Ledbetter; many other relatives and friends including special friends, Marguerite Booker, Rhonda Ledbetter, Annetta Washington, and Lacreatia Williams.

Kawana was preceded in death by her father, MacArthur Turner, and brothers, Fred Dudley, and Gino Stewart.
