Katrina "Peaches" Maddox (Lansing)

June 10, 1951 — May 3, 2022

Katrina Maddox, affectionately known as Peaches was born the 1st child of two to the late Thomas J. McNary, Jr. of Toledo, Ohio, and the late Josephine Rose Grider, Indianapolis, Indiana on June 10, 1951. In 1957, Josephine married the late Richard Grider in which two additional children were born, Cynthia and Stephanie. They were all raised together as a family.

Katrina attended Indianapolis Public Schools and received her diploma from the historic Shortridge High School. Upon graduating in 1969, she started her professional career at an early age working in the accounting industry and later changed to the mortgage industry in which she remained for thirty (30) plus years, including owning her own mortgage company. She was very talented and skilled with her hands, and had a creative mind, with this she started her own stationery business, MaddKreations. Many of you were touched by the uniqueness of her cards on holidays and for special occasions. In 2013 she was awarded Michigan State Housing Development Authority (MSHDA) Counselor of the Year. In 2002 she began working at Eliezer Temple Church (Lansing, MI) as the church Administrator. She retired in 2020 from MSHDA as a HUD and MHSDA Certified Housing Counselor. Upon retirement, she continued working as the church Administrator at Eliezer Temple Church (ETC) where she remained employed until resting in God’s hands at age 70.

Katrina met the only love of her life, William David Maddox, III in 1968. They entered holy matrimony on January 30, 1971. They were together fifty-three (53) years and married fifty (50) before William was called home to Glory in 2021. To this marriage, there were two (2) children, David, and Shonna.

Peaches was baptized at Grace Apostolic Church (Indianapolis) where she also received the precious gift of the Holy Ghost in 1978 under the late Bishop Morris E. Golder. She remained committed to her walk with God and was blessed with a beautiful voice in which she sang in many musical groups and gospel choirs. She started her singing career by joining the group “Words of Wisdom”. She continued her love for singing by joining the Grace Apostolic Sanctuary Choir, and the Pentecostal Mass Choir. She was also a member of the Eliezer Temple Praise team in which she sang praises until 2 weeks preceding her homegoing.

Peaches enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She was a never-ending source of positivity and was always smiling. Even when her health began to weaken in 2020, the doctors gave up, but God said, “It is not your time yet”. She remained faithful and continued to walk as the Lord ordered her steps. She was loyal, trustworthy, and always willing to offer wisdom to her family and friends. She loved to travel, see various sites, and was very adventurous. In her spare time, she loved to exercise and shop. She had a competitive spirit in all aspects of her life. She only feared God.
