Josephine Christian of Lansing, Michigan passed away Sunday, March 17, 2013 at Sparrow Hospital. Age 67 years.
Josephine Christian was born May 4, 1945 to George and Lela Christian in Walls, Mississippi. She departed this life on March 17, 2013 at Sparrow Hospital, Lansing, Michigan. She confessed Christ at an early age at New Hope Baptist Church in Blytheville, Arkansas and moved to Lansing, Michigan in 1965. Josephine became a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church and served on the usher board under the leadership of Reverend Paul Garrett. She later became a member of Macedonia International Worship Center under the leadership of Bishop Michael Williams, until being called home to be with the Lord.
Josephine was employed by the Lansing School District. She was also a foster parent for the State of Michigan for over 30 years. Her great passion was children.
She leaves to cherish her memory five daughters, Deborah Benson, Carol Williams, Sonya Christian, Jessica Diggs, all of Lansing, Michigan, Alicia Burns of Battle Creek, Michigan; three sons, Charles (Barbara) Christian, Montrail Christian, Carlos Watkins of Lansing, Michigan; twenty grandchildren, Marquell (Natasha) White, Sakita Cotheran, Marquis Davis, Shamari Christian, Shanice Watkins, Carlos Watkins, Jr., Eric Bonner, Victor Clayborn, Ceianna Bonner, Kyra Humphries, Na'sya Bates, Shatrail Bates, Rashad Westmoreland, Carhanik Mills, Kris Janae Scott, Da'Zhayia Scott, Aleiyah Bonner, Alaiyah Bonner, Xzayveion Scott, all of Lansing, Michigan, Ki'Hise Burns of Battle Creek, Michigan; five great-grandchildren, Kenneth Hackman III, D'veo Davis, E'yonnis Nelson, Jaslyn White, Ariel Davis, all of Lansing, Michigan; two sisters, Corine Jones, Teina Christian of Lansing, Michigan; four brothers, Willie Henry (Vickie) Wright, of Los Angeles, California, Lovie (Mary) Wilhite, Charles (Kathrin) Wilhite of Lansing, Michigan, John Christian of Atlanta, Georgia. Several step-sisters and step-brothers; special daughters, Terina Brown, Sheleka Brown, Karla Russell, Nina (Jerry) Bowser, Patricia Myles, Tamecia McClayton; special cousins, A. Faye Johnson, Ida Watson, Mary Ann Jones, James (Leonia) Jones, Emma J. Bryant, Lealer (Larry) Johnson, Vernice Neely, Bertha Nick, Catherine Smith, Earnest Jones; special friends, Debbie Snaden, Willie Mae Wilhite, Virgie Coleman, Donna Christian, and many other relatives and friends.
Josephine was preceded in death by her parents, George and Lela Christian, one son, James, one brother, Odes.
