Joseph Sanders

Mr. Joseph Sanders passed away Thursday, September 11, 2014 at Covenant Healthcare-Cooper. Age 77 years. He was born February 10, 1937 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama to Willie and Lillie Sanders.
Joseph relocated to Saginaw, Michigan with his family at the age of 6 years old. On June 19, 1999 he was united in holy matrimony with Karen V. Addison. She survives him. He retired from Delta College in 2003 after many years of service. Joseph was very active in the community and attended the Million Man March in October 1995. He was President and CEO of Sankofa Inc. Joseph was an educated man who held two bachelor degrees from Saginaw Valley University. He enjoyed grilling and spending time with friends and family. Joseph loved traveling the world with his wife. His remarkable presence will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
His memory will be celebrated by his wife, Karen V. Addison-Sanders; two daughters, Tonja and Raqea Sanders; two sons, Joseph E. Jr. (Stacy) and Devion Sanders; six stepchildren, Jackie Donald, Regina Hollenqueadt, Carolyn and Debra Lundy, Cindy and Crystal Young; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews; mother-in-law, Geraldine T. Addison; one sister-in-law, Angie V. Addison; two brothers-in-law, D.C. Addison Jr. and Steven Addison; two god-daughters, Danielle Dominquez and Pankie Racheal Norton; two god-sons, JeVani Witherspoon and JaHaira Addison; many other relatives and friends including his special friends, the Men Of Sankofa Inc.
Joseph was preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Lillie Sanders, two brothers, William Hicks and Tommie Lee Sanders, father-in-law, DC Addison Sr.
