Our beloved father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Johnnie C. Weems was born July 7, 1929 in Union Springs, Alabama to Louis and Ada Weems. He was a resident of Saginaw, Michigan and was employed by, and retired from, General Motors after 35 year. He enjoyed life to the fullest. He loved playing his guitar, hanging out with friends at McDonalds and playing cards.
Mr. Weems leaves to cherish his memory, two daughters and one son, Chris Bell Sr. (Phyllis) of Garland, Texas, Donna R. Wilson of Saginaw, Michigan and Pamela Weems of Minneapolis, Minnesota; four stepchildren, Allen and Sonya Hatter, Desiree Johnson and Tracey Stevenson; ten grandchildren, Donangelic Weems of Houston, Texas, Devona Weems of Saginaw, Michigan, DeLinda Weems of Dallas, Texas, Pamela Russell (Scott) of Ann Arbor, Michigan, Charity and Chris Bell Jr. of Garland, Texas, Reuben, Kraon, Kimberly and Tadaci Weems of Minneapolis, Minnesota; nine great-grandchildren, LaDonna Weems, Dwayne Hoosier, Devontae and Shampayne Lard, Maia Bell, Bishop, Braelin and Braxton Russell and Daryl Wade Jr.; one sister, Gladys Stafford of Passaic, New Jersey; many other relatives and friends including a special friend of 28 years, Ruby Gray, and a dear sister-in-law, Ruby Weems.
Johnnie was preceded in death by his wife, Rose Hatter-Weems; four sisters, Mable Cooks, Leida Weems-Baskin, EthelTownsend, Charlene Weems; five brothers, Will, Louis, Robert and Coleman Weems and Paul King; one stepdaughter, Monica Chapman.
The family would like to express special thanks to Johns neighbors, the Brooks Family, Willie and Wilma Weems for their prayers and warm visits; Wunita Weems, Earleen McKnight and Tim Lard for their support and the Veterans Administration Hospital Gold Team.
