Johnetta Wilson "Johnny Red"

Mrs. Johnetta Wilson was born March 1, 1943 in Saginaw, Michigan to Lucious and Jessie Mae Hawkins. She passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 29, 2018, at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Michigan.

Mrs. Wilson, lovingly known to family and close friends as “Johnny Red”, attended Saginaw High School and graduated from Ruben Daniels. She retired from Healthsource Saginaw after 14 years of dedicated service. Mrs. Wilson was a faithful member of Candlelight Missionary Baptist Church, where she served as President of the Usher Board and sang in the choir for over 38 years. She was a prayer warrior and loved talking about the Bible. In her free time, she enjoyed crocheting, knitting and doing crossword puzzles. Johnetta loved spending time with her family, whom describe her as loving, compassionate and full of life. She touched the lives of all who came in contact with her, as she always had an encouraging word to give, and all who knew her loved her.

Mrs. Wilson leaves to cherish her memory nine children, Paula (Anthony) Polk, Defiance Ohio, Terra Hawkins, Cedric (Shonda) Wilson, both of Saginaw, Michigan, Richard (Patrice), Wilson, George Lee Wilson, of Detroit, Michigan, Heather Stewart, DaWaun Wilson, Saginaw, Michigan; five siblings, Celeste Montgomery, Ethel Mae Rester, Clifford, Tyrone and Phyllis Wicker; four stepchildren, Horace Wilson, Alabama, Bonnie Wilson, Mississippi, Ruby Wilson, Patricia Wilson, both of Chicago, Illinois; 14 grandchildren, TaNiecishia, Nasiya, Shamyria, Kelvin, Jarell, DarQuavion, Cedriana, Damesha, Cedric (Lil Ced), Nautica, Amiyah, Josh, Londyn, JaMon; nine great-grandkids, Tahmajae, Koance, Tamarrion, Antonio, Andrick, Aayvien, SaNiya, Ke’Liah, KarMello; two special daughters, Michelle Fisher, Mary Scott; special godchildren, Jaida Clemons, K.J. Brooks, Alyx-Zander Jiles, Ayana Manuel, Jermaine Burns, Ar’Quevis Robinson, Airrick Washington, Tyler Drain, Marion Murphy; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, including special friends, Clara Mitchell, Vivian Grayson, Lee Beal, Ophelia Jackson, Olga Greene, Ruby Jackson, Barbara Jenkins, Udell and Alma Holmes.

Mrs. Wilson was preceded in death by her husband, Josh Wilson; parents, Lucious and Jessie Mae Hawkins; grandparents, Earnest and Ethel Taylor; brothers, Willie Hawkins, Jerry Wicker; sister, Frances Wicker; granddaughter, KaShawndra McFadden; godson, Derrick Nash.
