John Pate, Sr. (Lansing)

Mr. John Henry Pate, Sr. passed away Sunday, June 23, 2019 at his residence in Lansing, Michigan. Age 57 years. He was born June 30, 1961 to Leon Pate, Sr. and Daisy Pate in New Orleans, Louisiana.

John and his family moved to Lansing, Michigan when he was 6 years old. He attended school in the Lansing School District at Walter French junior High School and graduated from Eastern High School. John held various jobs as a cook in his lifetime. He cherished his family; was a great father and grandfather. He was very respectful, kind-hearted, loving and had a wonderful sense of humor that kept people laughing. John was an outgoing person who left a lasting impression on people he met. His enjoyed playing cards, domino's and basketball.

He leaves to cherish his memory his daughter, Makale Greer; 3 sons, John Henry Pate, Jr., Kaverse Pearson and Kevon Pearson; 5 stepchildren, Tia Alston, Mariah Head, Savannah Head, Tanisha Hogan and Eisha; parents, Leon Pate, Sr. and Daisy Pate; 3 sisters, Barbara Jean Pate, Nora Jean Pate and Loretta Pate; 6 nieces, Michelle McCloud, Shannon Harris, Maleka McKinnon, K'mya Brown, Myra Watts, Ayanah Arthur, Kendra Anderson and Serene McCloud; 12 nephews, Shunte Pate, Levon Pate, Greg White, Markyce Blocker, Marquan Smith, Dave McCloud, Sr., Dave McCloud, Jr., Dominque McCloud, Damien McCloud, Delon McCloud, Malik Blocker, Martez McKinnon and Abdull McKinnon; 4 aunts, Delores James, Ora Calhoun, Mildred Nettles and Delores Chapman, New Orleans, Louisiana; 3 uncles, Jasper Manuel, James Manuel and Tom Manuel; many cousins, other relatives and friends including special friends, Chip Dalton, Lanita Olds, Tracee Husband, Christina Coulson, Mandy Kenney and Belinda Irvine Upshaw.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Mose and Daisy Manuel; grandmother, Geneiva Chapman; grandson, Malakhi Greer; brother, Leon Pate, Jr.; and nephew, Delon Pate.
