Jimmy Jones, Jr.

October 19, 1939 — June 2, 2019

Mr. Jimmy D. Jones, Jr., beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 2, 2019. He was born in Coffeeville, Mississippi in Yalobusha County on October 19, 1939 to Jimmy D. Sr. and Mary Jane Jones.

Jimmy, known as “Zeke”, attended school in Mississippi and later relocated to Saginaw, Michigan. He received Christ at an early age and remained faithful to his God. He was a member of Mt. Olive Institutional Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Dr. Marvin T. Smith.

Zeke married Dorothy Mae West August 29, 1968 and the two were married for fifty wonderful years. To this blessed union, three children were born.

Zeke was self-employed at Tri-City Chrome and Plating in Saginaw. He enjoyed watching baseball, basketball, CNN, Texas Ranger and In the Heat of the Night. He had a heart of gold and was an outspoken man. He would give you a piece of his mind. Whatever was on his mind, he would speak regardless of who you were.

James 1:17 says, “Every good and perfect gift comes from above…” Truly Zeke was a gift to this family for the last 79 years. He will be missed, remembered and forever cherished in our hearts and minds.

Jimmy was preceded in death by his sons, Clinton Wyatt, Terry West; parents, Jimmy D. Sr. and Mary Jane Jones; sisters, Rolena Edwards, Ida Mae Fountain; brothers, Henry Earl and Sylvester Jones.

He leaves endearing memories with his wife, Dorothy M. Jones; children, Ray, Rowan, Lorraine Jones, all of Chicago, Illinois, Anthony (Latrice), Janeal Jones, both of Saginaw, Michigan, Jimmy, Jimmica, Derrick Donald, all of Flint, Michigan, Yolanda (Tyrone) Johnson, Grand Rapids, Michigan; thirty-four grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; sisters, Learteen McNeil, Lancaster, California, Carrie (Lee) Williams, Chicago, Illinois, Emma Kimble, Rochester, New York; brother, John Thomas (Shirley) Jones, Saginaw, Michigan; aunts, Georgenia Jones, Coffeeville, Mississippi, Rosie Lee Eaddy, Inkster, Michigan; uncles, Cleveland Jones, Coffeeville, Mississippi, Odie Jones, Inkster, Michigan; sisters-in-law, Yvonne West, Tampa, Florida, Dianne West, Saginaw, Michigan; brothers-in-law, Anthony, Larry (JoAnn), Tyrone (Gogi) West; a host of nieces and nephews who were all very special to him, cousins, other relatives and friends, including special relatives, Lavorn, Peggy, L.W., Lorenzo Smith, Matthew Edwards, Barbara Harris, Johnnie Mae Smith, special friend Abe Martin, and special sister-in-law, Shirley Jones.
