Jeffrey Sturdivant (Lansing)

Mr. Jeffrey Dale Sturdivant passed away Friday, April 12, 2019 at the University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Age 60 years old. He was born November 25, 1958 in Lansing, Michigan, the last of four children born to his parents, LC and Josephine Sturdivant.

Jeffrey was raised in Lansing, Michigan. He accepted Christ at an early age. He spent his time studying and reading the Word of God daily. Jeffrey attended elementary, junior high and high schools in the Lansing School District. He graduated from Hill High School. Jeffrey was a member of the track team—the fastest and the baddest man running. Jeffrey believed in education. He received his associate degree in Arts and Sciences from Jackson Community College in April 1986. Jeffrey furthered his education at Davenport College. He received his bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Davenport College in December 2009. He received the Outstanding Education Student Award from the Chamber of Commerce.

Jeffrey loved playing cards, watching sports especially the Dallas Cowboys, listening to music by many artists but his favorite were Paul Hardcastle and his boy, the Maestro, Barry White!

He leaves to cherish his memory his sister, Susan K. (Ted Hodge) Sturdivant of Lansing, Michigan; brother, Gerald R. (Michelle) Lee of Lansing, Michigan; 3 nieces, Jasmine A. Lee of Baltimore, Maryland, Dominique K. Sturdivant and Josephine A. Sturdivant both of Lansing, Michigan; 3 nephews, Gerald R. Lee II of Oak Park, Michigan, DeShawn T. Sturdivant of Lansing, Michigan and RaShaad T. LC Sturdivant of Mason, Michigan; 2 great nieces, Aiyrene L.A.J. Sturdivant and Nicolette Sturdivantt both of Lansing, Michigan; 5 great nephews, Kamran R. Lee of Oak Park, Michigan, Diajhrion Sturdivant, Aiden Devaney, Eli Devaney and Braylin Sturdivant all of Lansing, Michigan; 7 aunts, Irene (Herfner) Cutliff of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Barbara James of Austin, Texas, Bernice Sturdivant of Grand Blanc, Michigan, Marie Campbell and Vernetta (John) Edmond of Lansing, Michigan, Irene Sturdivant of East Lansing, Michigan and Minnie Griffin of Ripley, Tennessee; many cousins, other relatives and friends including special friends, Arnold “Cookie” Winston, Johnnie L. Sudduth and Earnest Drake.

He was preceded in death by his parents, LC and Josephine Sturdivant; brother, Donald K. Sturdivant; maternal grandparents, Obie and Amanda Griffin; and paternal grandparents, Eddie and Cicero Sturdivant.
