Jannie L. Tolden

On Thursday, April 16, 2020, our beloved mother, Ms. Jannie Lee Tolden was called home to be with the Lord. She passed away peacefully with both of her daughters by her side. She was born September 6, 1961 in Camden, Arkansas to Charlie Sr. and Effie (Trammell) Tolden.

Jannie was the second oldest of five siblings. She accepted Christ in her life at an early age. In her day, she was a singer. Boy could she sing! She had the voice of an angel. To know her was to love her.

Our mom enjoyed family, food, and fun. She had a deep love for music, and watching television gave her heart joy. She had a true heart of gold. She was easy going, laid back and would go to the ends of the earth for her family. Mom was the true definition of a fighter. She had an uncanny ability to make folks laugh.

Her grandchildren were the light of her life and she was the light of ours. Mom will be forever missed. We love you in and out of time.

Jannie was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie Sr. and Effie Tolden; brother, Charlie Tolden, Jr.; sister, Mary Tolden; special friend, Clarence B. Toliver “Spooky”.

She leaves to cherish her memory two daughters, Omarisha Tolden, Kelly Spiller; five grandchildren, Dyamond Rowe, Omarion Rowe, Kennedy Coleman, Kameron Spiller, Serenity Harrison, all of Saginaw, Michigan; sisters, Linda (Justin) Robinson, Conyers, Georgia, Teresa (Julius) Williams, Inkster, Michigan; niece, Charmaine Thomas, Saginaw, Michigan; nephew, Alfonso McAfee III, Atlanta, Georgia; uncle, Melvin Trammell, Camden, Arkansas; many other relatives and friends.

The family would like to express special thanks to Nurse Jackie Gute, a host of family and friends for all the thoughts and prayers during our time of bereavement, Ivan E. Phillips and the Staff of Paradise Funeral Chapel.
