James Robinson, Jr. (Lansing)

December 23, 1945 — May 16, 2019

Mr. James Benny Robinson, Jr. "Jew man" passed away Thursday, May 16, 2019 at his residence in Lansing, Michigan. Age 73 years. He was born December 23, 1945 to the late Fannie Mae (Boyd) and J. B. Robinson in Emelle, Alabama.

James was educated in the Sumpter Country Training School System, located in Livingston, Alabama. In the early years of his life, James moved to Birmingham, Alabama, where he was employed as a city worker for the City of Birmingham as a sanitation specialist and also maintained a job at Stockham and Valves Fitting.

James was truly dedicated to working. He later moved to Detroit, Michigan in 1971 and worked for Chrysler Corporation. James loved the idea of making cars ~ he was later hired into General Motors where he worked as a team leader, until his retirement after 30 years of dedicated services. James was very professional and fond when it came to the dedication of his job. James shift started at Oldsmobile from 7-3, he often got teased for being at work 2 hours early before his shift started. He informed us “The early bird gets the worm.” Nothing comes to sleepers but a dream, Wake Up…

James was an all-around person he loved watching sports, hunting, fishing and cooking. He was the King of that grill. He became part owner of Capitol City Ribs that was located in Lansing, Michigan. With his specialty of making ribs. James was also the master of homemade peanut brittle. He would always say “Peanut brittle ready guys.”

James loved spending time with his family and friends. He liked to travel and take road trips. Everyone was always excited to see him. As he often shared a lot of family history with family members in a comical way. The family solely depended on him for his wisdom and knowledge on life. He was never afraid to tell for the truth from his point of view. He often mimics never go by the word I heard, “I heard is a bad word” we as family have learned that to be a true statement.

With strong belief in his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, James departed this life on May 16, 2019.
