James Jenkins "Bam"

July 18, 1970 — February 10, 2020

Mr. James Anthony Jenkins was born July 18, 1970 in Saginaw, Michigan to Sarah Jenkins. Our beloved son, brother, father, companion and uncle was called home to his Heavenly Father on February 10, 2020.

James, affectionately known as “Bam”, received his diploma and completed Job Corps. He then attended Delta College before leaving to work in the Ann Arbor area. Eventually Bam returned home and worked many years at Genei Corporation and Bavarian Village.

Bam was known for his contagious laugh. He was a great guy with a deep connection to family. A homebody at heart, he enjoyed spending time with family, playing video games and having a good time. Although quiet at times, he was usually the life of the party. He will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him. Today we say goodbye to the good guy.

James was preceded in death by his stepfather, Sugar Amos; grandmother whom he adored, Ruth Mae Smothers; grandfather, James Smothers; nephew, Dakota J’Anthony; uncles, Jerry and Robert Smothers; cousins, Daniel Smothers, James Smothers and Deleon Brown.

He leaves to cherish his memory his loving mother, Sarah Jenkins; children, Anthony, Shilo, Javon; sister whom he was fiercely protective of and close to, LaTonya (Chris Sr.) Tyler; the love of his life, Kerri; nieces and nephews whom he helped raise, De’Quaris, Bianca (Maeceo) Chris Jr., Sydney, Tyra, Alyse, Jayceen, Kayla, Monique, Danielle, Tristen; great-niece, Bella Tyler; uncles, J.C, Tommy (Tasha), Melvin (Tanja), David Smothers; aunts Clotes and Devonda Smothers, Debry Davis, Sandra Primm, Sarah (Cathy) Jenkins; mother-in- law, Sherry Wesley; sisters-in-law, Shan and Aaron; special cousins, Glen Dowdy, Marcellus Sr. and Lorraine Jenkins; many other relatives and friends including his entire Project Family and Otis Ray.

The family would like to express special thanks to Gift of Life, Pastor Lafayette Simpson and Bethlehem Baptist Church, Ivan E. Phillips and the Staff of Paradise Funeral Chapel.
