James Gregory Curry Sfc (Retired)

James Gregory Curry passed away Wednesday, November 12, 2014 at Sparrow Hospital in Lansing, Michigan. He was born May 14, 1952 in Birmingham, Alabama to Walter Lee Curry and Alyne M. Flowers Curry.
James was affiliated with Mount Hope Church and was a member of the Potters House/Pentecostal. He retired from the United States Army in 1992. James received a Bachelors and a Masters Degree in Philosophy/Religion from Shaw University and a Masters of Art Degree in Sports Management from the American Public University System. He was also the Director for Military Ministries in Fort Bragg, North Carolina.
He leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife of 24 years, Fran Beverly Shea Curry; eight children, Kersandra Dewon Curry (Anthony) Brunson of Leesburg, Georgia, Deniece Alyne Curry of Alpharetta, Georgia, David Emmanuel (Sholayna Rachelle) Curry of Snellville, Georgia, Elizabeth Victoria Shea Curry, James Gregory Curry II, Elayne Athia Shea Curry, Matthew Bartholornew Curry, Isaac Jacob Curry all of Lansing, Michigan; one step-son, Corey Antwarell Vance of Leesburg, Georgia; his grandchildren, Zimoviah Kharilynn Aster Brunson of Leesburg, Georgia, Aveon Manuel Curry of Snellville,Georgia, Ayiana Michelle and Deniece Curry both Snellville, Georgia; one brother, Walter Eugene (Kathy Lynn) Curry of Birmingham, Alabama; nieces, Kenya Monique Curry, Sheaquitha Curry, Shenisne, Ernesta Roseman, Cyntheta Elom, Chantel Smith, Brayiannia Smith; nephews, Walter Eugene Allen Curry, William Elom, Gino Vinetti Curry, Jaylen Curry, William Bedford Smith III and Joshua Smith; cousins, Everette Lee Curry Jr., Patricia Ann Jones, Shirley Ann Curry, Leon Bean Jr., Nathaniel Bean, Cari Bean and Kristian Bean; many other relatives and friends.
James was preceded in death by his parents, Walter Lee and Alyne M. Curry, grandmother, Linnie Curry, grandfather, Foster Flowers, one brother, Jerome Davis, one sister, Deborah Lynn Vance, mother and father-in-law, Sara and William Smith.
The family would like to express special thanks to the Michigan State University crew and staff for their prayers, visits and support.
