James Anthony Bonner

April 15, 1954 — January 5, 2022

Mr. James Anthony Bonner was born April 15, 1954, in Greenville, Mississippi, to Julia Hinton and David Bonner, He peacefully departed this life Wednesday, January 5, 2022. Age 67 years.


James was a true southern gentleman. He displayed a warm personality, was very sociable, well-liked by many, and met no strangers. James accepted the Lord at an early age and attended Mt. Carmel Baptist Church. in Saginaw, Michigan. He was a graduate of Coleman High School before moving to Saginaw, Michigan. James worked at various jobs over 20 years: mechanical, land-scanning, and carpentry. He loved cooking; his specialty was chicken.


James leaves to cherish his memories, a daughter, Yvette Denise (Henry) Posey, Atlanta, Georgia; her mother, Paula Denise McCree, Atlanta, Georgia; grandchildren, Shandreka, Tameka, and Damarcus Bonner, Myosha and April Posey, Taranisha Pratt; five great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews including favorite niece, Keisha Edwards, Greenville, Mississippi; favorite nephews, Henry Edwards, Greenville, Mississippi, and Wayne Hardy, Saginaw, Michigan, many cousins and friends; special friend, Janice Donald, Saginaw, Michigan; friends who were always there when he needed them the most, Terry G. Parks, Leon Jackson, Felecia Hooker, Ethelinda Taylor, Geraldine Swift, David Reynolds, Mike Schumacher; and his favorite pet dog, Tammy.


James was preceded in death by his wife, Tammy Bonner; parents, Julia and David Bonner; brother, David Bonner Jr.; sister, Ernestine Hinton; and cousin, Roy Lee Hinton.


The family would like to thank Pastor Murry Culberson and Rose Hill Missionary Baptist Church family for the many acts of kindness shown during this season of bereavement. God bless each of you and sustain a lasting peace within your souls. Special thanks to Larry McCree and Henry A. Gaines.
