Deacon Jakie Thornton gained his heavenly wings on Tuesday, August 18, 2015 at the age of 88 years. He was born May 17, 1927 in Vicksburg, Mississippi, the youngest of nine children born to Easter and Leon Thornton.
Mr. Thornton served his country with the United States Army receiving an Honorable Discharge. He was a faithful member of Christ Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Robert Davis Jr. until his health failed. He was a member of the Deacon Board. Jakie enjoyed watching his favorite TV show, Judge Judy. He loved his family and his presence will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He leaves to cherish his memory many nieces and nephews; sister-in-law, Eleanor Thornton; best friends and caregivers, Ed and Ernestine Robinson; many other relatives and friends including his special friends, Princella, Edith Holmes and the Deacons of Christ Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church.
Jakie was preceded in death by his wife, Beverdale Thornton, parents, Easter and Leon Thornton, three brothers and five sisters.
