Israel Vinson (Lansing)

Israel Vinson, 40, of Lansing, Michigan died Tuesday, December 12, 2017 at Mother Theresa House in Lansing, Michigan. He was born October 21, 1977, in Cleveland, Ohio to James and Barbara Ann Vinson (nee Crittenden).

Israel attended and graduated from Max Hayes Vocational High School where he graduated in 1996. He obtained many awards and certificates as well as letters of recognition from the office of the Governor and the United States District Court. He later graduated from Lansing Community College where obtained a certificate as a fireman as well as certificates in Welding and Construction. He worked briefly as a Corrections Officer through the Michigan Department of Corrections.

Israel married Lashon Vinson (Knight) in July 1997 in Cleveland, Ohio. In 1997, they moved to Lansing, Michigan with their daughter, Brianna Vinson to start a new life. Israel, Jr was born shortly thereafter. Israel enjoyed family life and had many long-lasting friendships. He was always seen as the life of the party, laughing, joking and always wanting to make people laugh. His bestfriends and honorary brothers were Quincy Briggs and Nathanial Carlisle (deceased).

Israel’s life would seem too short to many, but those who were touched by him and loved by him understood that the quality of existence far exceeds the quantity of time in which one lives.

Israel is survived by his children, Brianna Vinson and Israel Vinson; his heart child, Neriah Broughton; his granddaughter, India Cooper; ex-wife Lashon Vinson; his brothers, Berrie Lee Vinson and Jacob (Christina) Vinson of Cleveland, Ohio; one sister, Traci Allamby of Cleveland, Ohio; aunts, Joyce Crittenden, Regina Crittenden and Jacqueline Crittenden all of Cleveland, Ohio; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and loved ones.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Berrie Fletcher and Cynthia Crittenden, his mother, Barbara Ann Vinson and his brother Christopher Weaver.
