India Mackey

November 18, 1999 — November 19, 2019

On November 18, 1999, a beautiful baby girl named India Elise Mackey was born to Andrew Scott and Sabrina Mackey. Her beautiful brown eyes and precious smile brought such joy into the world on that day.

India was a graduate of Saginaw High School, “Class of 2017.” Early on she learned that her intelligence accompanied by hard work would take her far in life. She was a faithful member of Gideon Christ Community Church under the leadership of Pastor Chet Atkins. At church, she was an active volunteer for various events and programs, especially in the children and youth ministry.

India was full of life and love. She enjoyed acting, singing and having girl’s night with her sisters and friends. She was the best sister ever and very supportive of her siblings. India was always looking out for her siblings making sure they had everything they needed.

She was beautiful on the inside as well as the outside. Always so full of joy, she was light in darkness, encouraging those around her to be the best version of themselves to reach their fullest potential. Twenty years was not enough time. But we are grateful for the twenty years God loaned India to us and we will forever cherish her in our hearts and memory.

India was preceded in death by her grandfather, Minister Luther Brooks; great-grandmother, Ruby Weems; great-uncle, Willie Weems; cousins, Mary Ann Mackey, Adrian Weems.

She leaves to celebrate her life her parents, Sabrina Mackey, Andrew (Shontele) Scott, Joseph Sr. (Irvie) Polk; six sisters, Isis Mackey, Angel and Ajah Scott, Debra El’Amin III, Emily and Emerson Polk; six brothers, Ivory, Joseph Jr. “JoJo”, Joseph Jr. “Two Sweet” Polk, Andrew and Antorion Scott, Joaquin Vargas; grandparents, Ida Brooks, Kenneth (Shatara) Smithers, Andrew (Dorothy) Scott, Victoria Polk, Joseph Powell, Sr.; four nieces; two nephews; many aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends.

The family would like to express special thanks to the Warren Police Department, Ivan E. Phillips and the Staff of Paradise Funeral Chapel.
