Howard Lee Bennett, Jr.

Mr. Howard Lee Bennett, Jr. went home to be with his Heavenly Father on Tuesday, October 20, 2015 at the age of 66 years. He was born December 12, 1948 in Saginaw, Michigan to Howard Lee and Lucille Bennett.
Howard attended Saginaw Public Schools and was a 1967 graduate of Saginaw High School. He retired from Grey Iron Metal Casting Plant in August 2002 and was a member of the U.A.W. Local #668. Howard was an avid sports fan and was a member of New Beginnings Ministries under the leadership of Pastor Roy Baldwin. Howard was a kind, dependable, generous and encouraging man of God. His presence will be truly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He leaves to cherish his memory two daughters, Reeshemash "Shema" (Andr) Spivey of Detroit, Michigan and Sade S. Bennett of Saginaw, Michigan; two step-children, Geroy and Tracy Howard of Saginaw, Michigan; six grandchildren, Andr II and Kendall Spivey of Detroit, Michigan, Layla and Orlando Howard of Saginaw, Michigan, Jermaine Torryeon and Geroy J. Howard Jr. of Pontiac, Michigan; one sister, Donella (Earl Sr.) Morris of Saginaw, Michigan; one brother, Louis Hopson of Birmingham, Alabama; four nieces, LaCrissa Bennett of Saginaw, Michigan, Remona (Kevin) Rodgers of Piscataway, New Jersey, Robin May and Cynthia Hopson of Birmingham, Alabama; two nephews, Earl (Tracy) Morris of Murfreesboro, Tennessee and Shawn Meredith of Atlanta, Georgia; two sisters-in-law, Georgia Hemphill and Linda Hightower of Saginaw, Michigan; three brothers-in-law, Elston Laury of San Francisco, California, Darnell Laury of Tyler, Texas and Jeff Laury of Saginaw, Michigan; a host of other relatives and friends including his fiance, Janice Turner and lifelong friends, Roland Berkley, Lloyd Lindsay, Morgan Carter, Raymond Presley, Walsezetta Bennett, Robert Lee Sidney and a special nephew, Robert Scott.
Howard was preceded in death by his wife, Lula "Cleo" Bennett; parents, Lucille and Howard Lee Bennett Sr.; one aunt, Katie (Stephen Barnett) Woods and lifelong friend, Adrian Prince.
The family would like to extend special thanks to Riverside Dialysis Center, Covenant Healthcare-Cooper CCU Staff, Ronald J. Ezell (Sade's Special Friend), god-daughters, Andrea Jones, Desirea Jones and Antoinette Jones and niece, Monique Hightower.
