Henry Brown

June 25, 1935 — October 6, 2021

Mr. Henry Brown passed away on Wednesday, October 6, 2021 at Covenant HealthCare Cooper. Age 86 years. He was born to the late Peter Brown and Mary Ray (Kent) Brown in Shelby, Mississippi. The family later moved to Caruthersville, Missouri where he was raised and educated in the Missouri school system. He was affectionately known as Boose, Uncle Boose or Henry.

In the mid-1950’s, Henry enlisted in the United State Marine Corps and was honorably discharged after 4 years. In 1965 after his time in the service, he moved to Saginaw, Michigan to be near his special cousin, Ruby Wilson.

Henry started working for General Motors and enjoyed a long successful career for over 30 years. Early in his career he met Ethel Turner who preceded him in death. From this union one son, Darryl Turner, was born. Once retiring from General Motors, Henry continued to drive to family reunions and other events, and occasionally Caruthersville, Missouri. His favorite times were long distance drives. Since he refused to board an airplane, he would often drive to Toledo, Ohio, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and Louisville, Kentucky, to visit family. He was a man of faith who believed in God and routinely prayed and meditated. He was a very kind and giving man with a heart of gold to all family and those in need. If there was anything anyone needed, he gave unconditionally. Henry loved eating out, visiting restaurants and diners in the local area on a daily basis. His two sisters and a son were a top priority, and he spoke with each one every day. He will be sorely missed by the family and all who knew him.

He leaves to mourn two sisters, Barbara Thomas and Katie Brown, both of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; one son, Elder Darryl (Kimberley) Turner of Toledo, Ohio; a host of nephews, nieces and cousins.
