Helen Pearl Jones

February 18, 1951 — August 1, 2020

Ms. Helen Pearl (Cook) Jones was born February 18, 1951 in McNeil, Mississippi, the daughter of Lester Cook and Essie Irby Cook Johnson. She went from labor to reward on Saturday, August 1, 2020 at the age of 69 years.

Helen lived in Saginaw after moving from Newton, Mississippi in the late 1970s. She journeyed north in search of a better life and better opportunities. It was in Saginaw that Helen completed her GED and then began working as a waitress until her health complications.

Helen was a member of Place of Worship and was very close to her pastors, Steven and Esther Clark. She enjoyed reading the bible and spending time with her church family. Helen also loved singing, dancing, and cooking for her family and friends.

Although she was always cheerful and outgoing, Helen also had a serious side. She deeply loved and cared for her family and was always willing to lend a hand. Our beloved Helen Pearl will truly be missed.

Helen was preceded in death by her son, Clydell Jones, Jr.; parents, Lester Cook and Essie Irby Cook Johnson; grandparents, David and Endia Irby; brothers, Roy Lee Cook, William Harris, Charles Cook; sister, Thelma Cook; many grandchildren, nieces, nephews and a couple of great-grandchildren.
