Helen E. Hodge

Ms. Helen E. (Redeemer) Hodge was born February 2, 1950 in Memphis, Tennessee, the daughter of Owen and Jeraldine Redeemer. She passed away Saturday, March 9, 2019. Age 69 years.

Helen was a student of Buena Vista High School and graduated with numerous awards for academic excellence. She then attended Delta College and later Michigan State University. She became a Licensed Practical Nurse and later worked in nursing home administration. Healthcare was not only her career but her passion. She was a member of the Executive Board Nursing Ministry, Private Duty Nursing, President of the Trustees Board, Mission in the City board member and a member of other organizations.

Helen was very loving, caring and patient with everyone she encountered. She was an amazing nurse, teacher and leader. She was a woman of faith and a determined woman, which are the reasons she was able to excel in her field. Her love for family and her commitment to serving others left a lasting legacy that will not be forgotten.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents, Owen and Jeraldine Redeemer; sister, Mable Nelson; brother, DeWayne Tinsley.

She leaves to celebrate her life one son, Erik L. Sr. (Saundra) Redeemer; two daughters, Desiree Z. Redeemer, LaToya Hodge; grandchildren, Erik L. Redeemer, Jr., Delmont Redeemer, Ce’Mon Ross, Dontarius M. Stout, DeTrevion S. Hodge, Ty’Riauna Y. Simmons, Erika D. Redeemer, Brenea Z. Benton, Ja’Torrion H.E. Hodge; great-grandchildren, Armahni, MaKynsi, Dexter Stout; stepmother, Para Lee Redeemer; brothers, Melvin (Shirley), Tennessee, Lester (Janice), Tony (Carolyn), Richard, Thomas Redeemer, all of Michigan; aunts, Beverly Duckett, Mary Winn; uncle, Eddie Goodall; brothers-in-law, Pastor James (Evelyn)and Herman Hodge; godchildren, Tamekah Cameron, TeeJay Jackson; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends, including special friends, Jimmie Moultrie, Billie Granberry and Betty Curry.
