Harland Cecil Hollis

Mr. Harland Cecil Hollis “Slyde” passed away on Thursday, July 14, 2022, at his residence in Saginaw, Michigan. Age 68 years. Harland was born February 2, 1954, in Saginaw, Michigan to Emmit and Emma (Holley) Hollis.

Cecil “Slyde” was a resident of Saginaw, Michigan. Cecil accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age. He attended Houghton Elementary, Central Junior High, and was a graduate of Saginaw High School, Class of 1972. He also received an associate degree from Delta College in 1978. Cecil was employed by The Saginaw News as a Development Contractor for more than 15-½ years. Hollis, as he was fondly known by some family members, loved attending Saginaw High basketball games, watching sports on ESPN, and reading the Saginaw News.

Harland leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of 28 years, Renee’ C. McKinney-Hollis, Saginaw, Michigan; three daughters, Na’Kira Hollis (Marquis) Dawkins, Detroit, Michigan, NaPoisha Hollis, Ypsilanti, Michigan, and Sharmayne Hollis of Saginaw, Michigan; two sons, Dionte Lloyd, and Jazznon Hollis, Saginaw, Michigan; two stepchildren, Shayla McKinney, Saginaw, Michigan, and David McKinney, Houston, Texas; grandchildren, Camille Martin, Ypsilanti, Michigan; bonus grandchildren, Christian and Cammeron McKinney, Saginaw, Michigan, and Del’Asia McKinney, Houston, Texas; one sister, Becky (Luther) Petty, Jr., Saginaw, Michigan; nieces, Tiffani, Armisha, Devona, Ciara Hollis, Deirdre Smith, and Lacretia (Darrell) Usher; two nephews, Ralphael Hill and Darryl Garrett; one aunt, Bessie Herman Baxter, Slocomb, Alabama; one uncle, Royal Lee Holly, Saginaw, Michigan; two cousins who are more like sisters, Peggy (Lucas) Hinton, Huntersville, North Carolina, and D. Sharice Terry, Saginaw, Michigan; cousin, Billy (Jewell) Christmas, of Tampa, Florida; father-in-law, Thomas McKinney; three sisters-in-law, Yvette (Gilbert) Jones, and Kim McKinney, both of Toledo, Ohio, and Darlyne McKinney, Saginaw, Michigan; brother-in-law, Derryck McKinney, Jackson, Michigan; many other relatives and friends including special friends, Tony Smith, Las Vegas, Nevada,  and James Vaughn, Saginaw, Michigan.

Harland was preceded in death by his parents, Emmit and Emma (Holley) Hollis; daughter, Montoya Hollis; brothers, Thomas, Clayton, and DeRonnie “Bull” Hollis; grandparents, Clayton and Essie Holley; sister-in-law, Mary A. Hollis; nephews, Devin “Von” Hollis and Seondai Hill; and mother-in-law, Rosie L. Manzie.
