Grenard Johnson

September 14, 1973 — September 3, 2021

Evangelist Grenard Charles Johnson, good and faithful servant, was called home by his loving Father God on September 3, 2021 at the age of 47. Grenard was born September 14, 1973, in Chicago Illinois, to Willie and Pearlie Collier. He attended Gregory Elementary School and matriculated through the Chicago Public School system, graduating from Farragut High School.

Inspired by his father Willie (Ceaser) Collier, Grenard developed a love for working on vehicles as a teen. He had a God-given love for music and continued to express and grow in his knowledge and love for music as a rapper, songwriter, engineer and producer. Grenard received an esteemed musical accomplishment by charting on Billboard Music as a member of the rap group, “Illstreet”.

Grenard moved to Saginaw, Michigan to further his career in music, as well as, to expand his gift of working with teens by ultimately serving as a supervisor with Wolverine Human Services for 15 years. Grenard, affectionately known as “Gee, G Bawl”, gave his life to Christ in 2015 and was a member of Faith Charity Pentecostal Gospel Church, under the leadership of Pastor Ardis Thompson. He was a mentor to countless others and a marriage counselor. Grenard was co-founder of Saginaw Peace Coalition; a grass-roots community organization founded with the integral purpose of ending senseless violence, and bringing peace, to the city of Saginaw.

Grenard leaves behind a lifetime of cherished memories with his wonderful wife Keyanna Johnson, daughter G’Zari G’Niyah (GG) Johnson, Greenville, MS; brothers Jack (Mary Ann) Johnson, Chicago, IL, Clarence Johnson, Washington, DC; sisters Letha (Tony) Burch, Chicago IL, Angelia Willaby, Saginaw MI; nieces and nephews Gabrielle, Christopher, Tony and Curtis, Chicago, IL, Latesha Marie, Washington, DC, Andre, Amaya, Aleanah, Julisa, Londyn, Kamil and Omari, Saginaw MI; aunts Lillie Brown, Bertha Davis, Clara Green, Dora Green; aunts-in-law Yolanda Foster, Arlington, TX, Katrina, Raquel, Angela and Tiffiany Harry, Saginaw MI; mother-in-law Shaun Foster, Saginaw MI; sisters-in-law Jessica Harry, Shakala and Aliyah Foster, Saginaw MI; godson Ras Marselis, Saginaw MI; goddaughter Jodeci Strickland, Chicago, IL; special cousin Tina (Pastor Tuwana) Ray, Greenville, MS; and a host of great-nieces and nephews.

Grenard also leaves treasured memories with his special friends, music partners and brothers Reggie Baldwin, Corey Pritchett, Adam Davenport, Willie Branch, Johnny Jones, Montell Strickland, Nate Simington and Tavuris Pirtle all of Saginaw, MI, and Jeff and Angela Mouldin, Greenville, MS.

Waiting for Grenard at Heaven’s gates are his parents, Willie and Pearlie Collier; his daughter, Miracle Joy Johnson; favorite cousin, Sabrina; goddaughter, Mi’Angel Riche; and grandmother-in-law, Estherline Harry.
