Gloria Kidd

February 14, 1961 — July 6, 2020

Gloria Altheia Kidd was born February 14, 1961 in Bessemer, Alabama, the daughter of Henry and Mamie Kidd. Early on, Gloria attended the Michigan School for the Deaf and later attended Arthur Hill High School where she graduated and met her lifelong partner Mr. Clifton Griffin.

Gloria loved cooking, playing cards, and dominoes with her family and friends. She was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church of Midland. Gloria had a green thumb for plants, which she loved growing. She had a smile that would light up any room. Gloria’s three boys were her life. She adored, cherished, and loved them dearly.


Gloria was preceded in death by her father, Henry James Kidd; brother, Robert Kidd; grandmother, Luann Jones; nephew, Steven Kidd; aunts, Louvoina Morris, Quintella Worthington, Mildred Jones; mother-in-love, Annie Nelson; best friend, Billy Thompson.

She leaves to cherish her memory her mother, Mamie Kidd, Saginaw, Michigan; three sons, Demetric, Dominique, Kwasi (Cheyenne) Kidd, all of Saginaw, Michigan; grandchildren, Sy’lena Kidd, MeMe Richardson, Dominique Kidd Jr., Gabriel Kidd, Dallas Kidd, and Kwasi Kidd Jr.; sister Angela Vaughn, Saginaw, Michigan; lifelong partner, Clifton Griffin; aunt, Louvenia (Roosevelt) Pickett, Detroit, Michigan; many nieces and nephews whom she helped raise; her dog she affectionately called “Pollo”; a host of sisters and brothers in love, cousins that she loved dearly and special friends Debra Goodwin, Wesley Harper, Derrick, and Donna, just to name a few.

The family would like to express special thanks to Ivan E. Phillips and the Staff of Paradise Funeral Chapel.
