Gladys Brown (Lansing)

Ms. Gladys Brown was called home on Sunday evening, February 9, 2020, surrounded by family and friends. She was born October 9, 1955, in Saint Louis, Missouri to Henry and Ruby Brown.

Gladys and her mother moved to Lansing, Michigan and she received her high school diploma from Waverly High School. Gladys most recently worked as a Senior Companion for the elderly and she always tried to brighten their day.

Gladys was happy, friendly and loved a good party. She loved concerts, especially jazz and gospel. Gladys loved attending church services, especially with her mother. Though Gladys’ fight with cancer was brief, she stayed strong in faith and fought the good fight.

She leaves to cherish her memory her father, Henry Brown, Sr. of Saint Louis, Missouri; 3 children, Darnell Curtis Brown, Michael DeShawn Brown, and Nicole Catrice (Chuncey) Wells of Grand Rapids, Michigan; 11 grandchildren; brothers, James (Bernice) Brown of Iron Mountain, Michigan, Charles Michael Brown, Harry Brown, and Ricky (Lena) Brown; sisters, Patricia (Brian) Russell of Inkster, Michigan and Janet Jones; great aunt, Searcy Sipes of St. Louis, Missouri; aunt, Willie Chatman of Charlotte, North Carolina; uncles, Fred Artis of Battle Creek, Michigan, and John (Cheryl) Artis, Harold (Barbara) Artis, and Elder Charles Artis; very special niece, Jamara Brown, who lovingly cared for her during her illness, with the assistance of her cousin, Ellen White, nieces, nephews, cousins including special best friend and cousin Jackie Milton, other relatives and friends including special friends, Beverly Scott and Paula Simon.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Ruby Brown, and brothers, Henry Brown, Jr. and Anthony Brown.
