George Jones

Mr. George Jones passed away on Tuesday, August 29, 2017 at Cartwright Hospice. Age 82 years. He was born August 14, 1935 in Yazoo City, Mississippi to Christopher Columbus Jones and Louise McGrone.

George made his way to Saginaw, Michigan in 1961 where he became employed with General Motors. He retired after 35 years with the company. Anyone who knew George knew that the Lord was the head of his life. He always had The Word and advice for anyone in need. George also loved playing dominoes. If you were willing to play, he was willing to beat you. George was a good friend who enjoyed talking to and with his friends as much as he could. He will be dearly missed by all who loved him.

He leaves to cherish his memories his wife, Benita Jones of Saginaw, Michigan; two daughters, Gloria Crape and Alice Buckner; two sons, Billy (Doris) Smoot and Marcus Williams; ten step-children; fifteen grandchildren; twenty-seven great-grandchildren; eight nieces; ten nephews; four sisters-in-law, Norma (Sam) Quaye, Barbara (Willie) Barnes, Daphane Robinson, and Karen Robinson; two brothers-in-law, Lamont Robinson and Henry (Diane) Robertson; many other relatives and friends.

George was predeceased by his parents, Christopher Columbus Jones and Louise McGrone; three brothers, Christopher Columbus Jones II, A.B. Creighton, and L.C. Creighton; two sisters, Pankie Travis and Viola Richard; three children, George Jones Jr., Pam Jones, and Marshall Jones; two nieces, Melissa Tucker and Clovis Tucker; one nephew, Charles Richards; and his best friend, “Big Mike”.
