Garry Boyd

Mr. Garry Boyd passed from labor to reward on June 29, 2017 at Botsford Hospital in Farmington Hills, Michigan. He was born on August 13, 1954 in Cincinnati, Ohio to William Motley and Josephine Rolle.

At an early age, Garry moved with his mother to Saginaw, Michigan. While growing up, he attended St. Paul Missionary Baptist church. Garry attended school in the Saginaw and Buena Vista School District, and was a graduate of Buena Vista High School. He also attended Delta Community College.

While visiting Central Michigan University (CMU) with his brother, Robert, he met the love of his life, Minnie. After she graduated from CMU, Garry and Minnie became husband and wife. Although Garry was born with a hole in his heart and scoliosis, he did not let it keep him from being employed. He was a hard worker. He worked for United Parcel Service (UPS) in Saginaw. After moving to the Metro Detroit area, he continued to work for various companies. Garry was employed with Leaseway, Kerr Manufacturing and finally, Admiral Tool, where he worked until he became disabled.

Not only did Garry work hard, he played hard. He really enjoyed life. Garry was an outgoing, friendly person who never met a stranger. He enjoyed playing and watching sports. Garry played everything from basketball to ice hockey, and he also enjoyed being outdoors, i.e., camping and fishing. He liked to travel around the state and the country. Garry was gifted with great spatial awareness and an internal G.P.S. to figure out any new city. He joined Burning Bush International Ministries under the leadership of Bishop Don W. Shelby, Jr., whom he dearly loved. Garry loved socializing with family and friends who will miss him dearly.

Garry leave to cherish his memory his wife for life, Minnie Boyd; children, Vanita Spears, Garry D. Boyd, Jr. AKA “Sport” and Janeka Matthews; grandchildren, Deviro Spears, Delano Spears and Keith Smith; great-granddaughter, Ry’leigh Symone; extended family, his mother, Irene Conner; sisters, Mary Henderson, Dellena Conner, Gail Richardson and Arwanda Conner, all of Saginaw, Michigan; brothers, Zebedee Love, Sherman (Reavie) Richardson, Barry (Marie) Richardson, and Michael Richardson, all of Saginaw, Michigan; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends; his special aunt, Jettie Hoggs of Saginaw, Michigan.

Garry was preceded in death by his dearly beloved mother, Josephine Rolle; father, Robert Conner, Sr., brothers, Joey Boyd, Dan Richardson, Sam Richardson and Robert Conner, Jr; sisters, Patricia Ann Conner and Michelle Lynn Morris.
