Fred Ashe, Sr. (Lansing)

Mr. Fred Ashe, Sr. was called Home to be with his Heavenly Father on Sunday, March 11, 2018 at Hospice House of Mid-Michigan in Lansing, Michigan. Age 78 years. He was born September 14, 1939 to the late Sam and Mary Lou Ashe in Newbern, Alabama.

Fred resided in Alabama where he worked their family land. He accepted Christ at an early age and attended Mount Horeb Baptist Church under Pastor H. D. Butcher. Fred graduated from Sunshine High School in Newbern, Alabama. On December 7, 1963, he married Lillie L. Coleman and together they united to raised 7 children. In 1967, he migrated to Lansing, Michigan to provide a better life for his family. He was a devoted family man who deeply loved his wife, children and siblings. Fred had a special relationship with all of his family. He was employed by McKearney Asphalt and General Motors Fisher Body, retiring from both companies. Fred lived an active life. He loved sports, especially basketball, baseball and hunting. Fred was also very proud of his garden.

He leaves to cherish his memory and love, wife, Lillie Louise Ashe, children, Connie (Darin) Dismuke, Fred Ashe, Jr., Lee (Annette) Ashe, Franklin (Brenda) Coleman, Greensboro, Alabama, Alphonzo Ashe, Alabama and Dorothy Coleman; grandchildren, Ashley Harris, Kanetra Ashe, Timothy Haines, Lakeisha Coleman, Neisha Coleman, Marcus Ashe, Dion Coleman-Brown, Devin Coleman-Brown, Isaiah Ashe and Ariana Ashe; 12 great grandchildren; 2 brothers, Frank (Lousie) Ash and Rozell (Barbara) Ash, Mobile, Alabama; brother-in-law, Steve Horton; many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Mary Lou Ashe; granddaughter, Shameika Ashe and 9 siblings.
