Frank Washington

January 12, 1924 — February 22, 2011

Mr. Frank B. Washington husband, father, grandfather, great-great grandfather passed away Tuesday, February 22, 2011 at St. Marys of Michigan. Age 87 years. He was born January 12, 1924 in Bishopville, South Carolina to Vander and Louvenia Washington.
Frank came to Saginaw in 1950. He later met and married Loubertha Jones, his wife of 60 years. He was a U.S. Navy World War II veteran. He retired from Saginaw Grey Iron Foundry in 1967 and was a member of UAW Local 668. Frank was a member of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Floyd A. Logan. He had a great love for music and was a great guitarist; he also had a love for teaching others how to play. In his earlier years, he was a second lead guitarist for Percy Parham and the Cool Wallers. He enjoyed fishing and loved spending time with family and friends.
He leaves to cherish his memories his wife Loubertha Washington; two daughters, Bertha Mae Jackson, Washington, D.C., Cynthia K. Johnson, Saginaw, MI; son, Maurice Washington Sr., Saginaw, MI; seven grandchildren, Maurice Washington Jr., Kendra Roscoe, Brenda Muhammad, Derrick Jackson, Eric Jackson, Shyann and Jymya Johnson; adopted son, Andrew (Mary) Williams; four sisters, Rose Prescott, Saginaw, MI, Vera James and Lille Plowden, Bishopville, SC, Ada Bell Meyers, New Jersey; aunt, Leonza Porter, Saginaw, MI; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends including, special niece and nephew, Vander Washington and Louvenia Colvin, Saginaw, MI. The family would like to express a special thanks to the staff on the 6th floor at St. Marys of Michigan.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters; two
brothers; and grandson, Reginald D. Johnson.
