Ms. Eula Towns passed away Saturday, August 4, 2018 at Sparrow Hospital in Lansing, Michigan. Age 98 years. She was born September 5, 1919 to Aaron and Beatrice Moorehead in Varner, Arkansas. She was the third oldest child of seven children that included one brother and five sisters.
Mother Towns moved to Pine Bluff, Arkansas as a child. She later relocated to Lansing, Michigan where she met and married her husband Melton Towns, Sr. in March of 1952. She worked for General Motors and retired after 16 years of service.
Mother Towns came to know the Lord at a young age. In 1954, she began serving on the usher board at New Mount Calvary Church in Lansing, Michigan. Mother Towns answered the call to join others as founders of Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church, in 1972.
She leaves to cherish her memory two daughters Maxine Walker and Mabel Herring; nine grandchildren, Frederick (Vickie) Walker, Kim (John) Robertson, Debbie (James) Edokpolo all of Lansing, Michigan, Rhonda (Evon) Walters, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Saundra Sumner, Detroit, Michigan, Gwen (Christopher) Williams, New Bern, North Carolina, Melton Towns, III, Indianapolis, Indiana, Meleena Herring and Thomas Herring both of Lansing, Michigan; 12 great-grandchildren, 15 great-great-grandchildren and one great-great-great-grandchild; special nephew, Henry Shine Jr.; many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends.
Preceded in death by her parents, Aaron and Beatrice Moorehead; husband, Melton Towns, Sr.; son Melton Towns, Jr.; five sisters and one brother.
