Emmite Doxie, Jr.

April 15, 1931 — October 14, 2017

Mr. Emmite Doxie, Jr. entered into eternal rest on Saturday, October 14, 2017 at Medilodge of Frankenmuth. Age 86 years. He was born on April 15, 1931 in Florence, Alabama to Emmite O. and Eliza Doxie.

Emmite married Nancy Mae McDaniel on October 16, 1947 in Florence, Alabama. As a young man, Emmite was employed at a doctor’s office in Florence, Alabama. They moved to Saginaw, Michigan in 1952 where he was an outstanding employee at General Motors (Chevrolet Grey Iron Foundry) for 46 years. He was a member of UAW Local 668. Emmite sang with the renowned Bright Stars. He enjoyed fishing and hunting with his sons, yearly family vacations, cooking and gathering with family and friends. Mr. Doxie was a “dad” to eight, but a “father” to many. He will be truly missed by all who loved him.

He leaves to cherish loving memories three daughters, Deborah Moore, Las Vegas, Nevada, Margaret Whitley and Alicia Doxie, both of Saginaw, Michigan; four sons, Larry (Eloise) Doxie, Las Vegas, Nevada, William Doxie, Saginaw, Michigan, Leonard (Dorothy) Doxie, Lansing, Michigan, and Frederick (Shirley) Doxie, Atlanta, Georgia; sixty-four grandchildren, thirteen great-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Ester Mae Napier, Sarah Johnson, Christine Livingston; one brother, William H. (Geraldine) Doxie; two sisters-in-law, Eva B. Doxie and Hattie Doxie; many other relatives and friends including Lucille McDaniel and O’Neal Parish.

Mr. Doxie was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Doxie; son, Thomas Ray Doxie; parents, Emmite O. Doxie and Eliza Skipworth Doxie; sister, Alma J. Pitts; brothers, James, Tommie Nelson, Joseph, Robert, and the twins (boy and girl); sister-in-law, Beatrice Doxie; four brothers-in-law, Harper Pitts, John Livingston, James Johnson and Arthur Napier.

The family would like to express special thanks to his nurses, Jo, Ruth and Joe; a very special thanks to the staff at Medilodge of Frankenmuth; Ivan E. Phillips and the staff at Paradise Funeral Chapel.
