Emma Jean Mason (Lansing)

August 28, 1959 — September 29, 2020

Emma Jean Mason made her transition from life on earth to her everlasting home with her Lord on Tuesday, September 29, 2020 in Lansing, Michigan surrounded by her only child, sisters, and other family members at the age of 61 years. She was born August 28, 1959 in Portageville, Missouri to Roosevelt and Genetter Woods.

Emma’s family relocated to Lansing, Michigan when she was a teenager, where she attended Everett High School. She was a proud member of Solid Rock Full Gospel Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Marlon Carter. Some of Emma’s favorite pastimes were cooking and traveling. However, most of all she loved both her biological and church families.

Emma was a good-hearted, caring, friendly, and loving woman. She loved helping those in need. Often proving shelter, a good meal or simply a listening ear. Emma also loved playing games, such as volleyball, but especially playing family feud at the family get-togethers. So,
it goes without saying that Emma was extremely fun to be around, and greatly loved by both family and friends.

Emma leaves to cherished her memory her loving babygirl Myechia (Pastor Dwayne Johnson) Woods; three grandchildren, Emanuel, Jerralmiar, Andrea Jones all of Lansing, Michigan; two great-grandchildren, Demorria, Zechariah King; father, Roosevelt Woods; five sisters, Pearlie (Kenny) Mitts of Flint, Michigan, her loving dedicated sister, Estella Bailey, Mary Shepherd, Shirley Cobo, and Carolyn Shepherd; five brothers, William L. Woods, Robert L. Woods, Harold L. (Deb) Woods all of Lansing, Michigan, Phillip L. (Connie) Woods, Rodrick K. (Cheri) Woods of Colorado Springs, Colorado; two stepchildren, Charles Williams, Derrick Williams of Mississippi; God-daughthers, Sheletha Booka Dear and Anisha Jones, many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her mother Genetter Woods; two brothers, Roosevelt and Larry Woods; nephew, Johnny Conner; niece, Sonji Mitts.
