Elwood Johnson 'Wood'

Mr. Elwood Johnson Jr Wood passed away Sunday, November 23, 2014. Age 69 years. He was born January 4, 1945 in Tallulah, Louisiana to Elwood Johnson Sr and Matilda Straughter-Johnson. He was married to Evelyn Ware-Johnson who predeceased him.
Elwood enjoyed his family and friends, shooting pool and eating.
He leaves to cherish his memory, three daughters, Grenetta Johnson of Saginaw, Michigan, Barbette (Lee) Cole of Southfield, Michigan, and Stacy Johnson of Bay City, Michigan; two sons, Elwood Johnson III of Saginaw, Michigan, and Keith Johnson of Dallas, Texas; ten grandchildren, Jasmin, Tyisha, Jaymar Briaunna and Aaron Guerra-Johnson all of Saginaw, Michigan, Everett Lee Cole and David Cole, both of Southfield, Michigan, Skyler Cohen of West Virginia, Tyler of Houston, Texas and Ryan of Saginaw, Michigan; seven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mildred (Willie) Johnson-Pratt and Mary (Pete) Pratt-Land of Saginaw, Michigan; over 200 nieces and nephews who loved him dearly, including very special nieces, Valerie Pratt-Sykes of North Carolina, Andrea Pratt-Haynes of Detroit, Michigan, Tracy Johnson, Tricia Baby Nick Pratt, Carmen Pratt, Regina Smith-Pratt, Sherry Pratt, all of Saginaw, Michigan, Angela Harris-Dunbar and Yonna Harris of Southfield, Michigan, Jeanette and Elaine Johnson both of South Carolina; three very special nephews, Michael, Alvin and Brandon Pratt; many cousins; three sisters-in-law, Gwendolyn Blue and Gayl Johnson of Saginaw, Michigan, Lillie Baraka of Kalamazoo, Michigan; many other relatives and friends including his special friends, Don Sanders and Katie Wolford.
Wood was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Ware-Johnson, parents, Elwood Johnson Sr and Matilda Straughter-Johnson, three brothers, Rev. Edward Johnson, David Buck and Andre Baraka; one sister, Bernice Johnson-Howard and one son, Kevin Hayes.
The family wishes to express special thanks to Ms. Yvonne, Ms. Della and the entire staff at the Neighborhood House, Ivan E. Phillips and the staff of Paradise Funeral Chapel.
