Efua Hayford

November 20, 1981 — June 15, 2015

Ms. Efua Denise Hayford peacefully transitioned into eternal rest on Monday, June 15, 2015 at the age of 33 years. She was born November 20, 1981 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama to Faye E. and Ekow Olu Hayford.
Efua was a resident of Saginaw, Michigan. She was a member of Emmanuel Church of Deliverance under the leadership of Pastor Provis Carter. Efua received a Bachelors Degree in Political Science from Kentucky State University. She held various positions with different companies such as, the Kentucky State University library, the Saginaw Neighborhood House and the Saginaw OIC Daycare Center. Efua enjoyed mentoring the youth. She loved spending time with her son, traveling, shopping, knitting and crocheting. Efua was a courageous, outgoing, strong-willed woman of God who was very giving, determined, compassionate and loving. She always had high-spirits and had a great sense of humor. Her wonderful presence will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She leaves to cherish her memory one son, Anthony Carter; parents, Pastor Faye E. Carter and Dr. Ekow O. Hayford; four sisters, Amah Hayford, Aba Hayford (Levandis Gray), Ekwua (Glenn) Hayford-Williams and Dyona Carter; two brothers, Isaiah Carter and Nii Lomastay; two nieces, Akyra Williams and Emeri Sears; four nephews, Alexander Gray, Elijah Williams, Keltin and Tyleyn Sears; two aunts, Lou Willie Hardin and Laden Carter; five uncles, Overseer Provis (Fannie) Carter, Pervis Carter, Reverend James (Mary) Carter, Dewayne (Marzella) Carter and Charles (Lorraine) Carter; many other relatives and friends including special friends, David Woods, Sherrise Hollinger, Reggie Collier, Yutania Huffman, Connie and Darion Morales, Ha'Shun Young, Delleon Davis, Izona McAfee, Shacara Harris, Deonta and Malcolm Taylor.
Efua was preceded in death by her grandparents, Elizabeth Carter, Eunice Carter, Artie Carter, Ecomb Hayford and Casley Hayford, aunts, Lilly Wood, Hargie Ruth Culberson, Rena Smith and Minnie Carter, uncles, Edward, Tommy and Ewayne Carter.
The family wishes to express special thanks to the Emmanuel Church of Deliverance family and friends, Phyllis Scarbrough, Doris Tellis, Lataysha Collins, Precious King, Ester Thompkins, Shacara Harris and the Culberson/Myles family.
