Edgar Triplett

May 4, 1925 — February 10, 2020

Mr. Edgar Lee Triplett was born May 4, 1925 in Ackerman, Mississippi to Grover and Lillie Bell Triplett. He was called home after a valiant fight on Monday, February 10, 2020 at the well-lived age of 94 years.

Edgar, known by “Nappy Chin” and “Mr. E.T.”, was raised in Ackerman and attended school there. Post high school, he joined the United States Navy and served in World War II. After serving his country proudly for three years, he was honorably discharged and moved to Saginaw, Michigan, where he joined Christ Community Church under the leadership of the late Pastor William D. Aldridge and served as a deacon for over sixty years.

Edgar was employed by the Acme Brick Company and retired after thirty-five years of service. He was a great bowler and involved in several bowling leagues around the city. He enjoyed baking peanut pies, juicing and eating healthy foods. He will be remembered by his love for God, Sunday School and his passion for family.

He leaves precious memories with five children, Colleen Smith, Lillie (Ipson) Triplett-Bracey, Eddie Triplett, Erwin (Aslean) Triplett, Antoine (Taneya) Coleman; grandchildren, Tyre, Harold, Shaun, Billie, Kenya Triplett, Brent III, Desmond, Esmond, Demetrius Collins, Jaeland Calhoun, Lametrius Parker, Nayan Beavers, Anthony, Antonio Mitchell, Briesha, Cherish Coleman, LaTonya Tyler, Quade Bracey; great-grandchildren, Zenise, Zion, E’mari, E’cari, Bobbie, Anukett, Sydney, Chris, Bianca, Dequaris, Breasia; nephews, Charles, Willie Gene, Billie Wayne, Dennis, Lamar, Travis, Grover Dale, Robert, Johnnie; many other relatives and friends, including special friends John McGee, Lou Terry Pruitt, Pastor Lee Lathon, Ms. Josie, Lucy Erby and Ms. Betty Stinger.

Edgar was preceded in death by four children, Billie Holmes-Triplett, Carol D., Lee Duane, Latisha; parents, Grover and Lillie Bell Triplett; siblings, RC, Willie B., Willie T., Robert D. and R.T. Triplett.

The family would like to express special thanks to the VA Pallative Staff in Building 22 on the second floor, Nurses Bonnie, Teresa, John and Deb, Pastor Eugene Seals and New Christ Community Church, Ivan E. Phillips and the Staff of Paradise Funeral Chapel.
