Eddie Mckinney

January 6, 1927 — April 13, 2020

Mr. Eddie McKinney was born January 6, 1927 in Clayton, Mississippi to Louis and Rosie Lee (Redmond) McKinney. His name was called to be in glory on Monday, April 13, 2020 at the age of 93 years.

Eddie joined the United States Army and served his country proudly for several years before being honorably discharged. While he was deployed all over the world, he developed a love of travel and continued that passion throughout his life. More than anything Eddie enjoyed spending quality time with his family, especially at family reunions.

Eddie was a faithful member of Zion Missionary Baptist Church, first under Dr. Roosevelt Austin, Sr. and currently Pastor Rodrick A. Smith. He was employed by General Motors Corporation Grey Iron Foundry. Eddie was also dedicated to UAW Local 668. He instilled in his family a hard work ethic and left us a legacy of faith, love and family.

Eddie was preceded in death by his wife, Essie McKinney; son, Eddie Brown; sisters, Georgia Crenshaw, Rose Anthony and Ethel Barr.

He leaves precious memories with his daughters, Dorothy Brown, Barbara Brown, Mable Brown-Jones; sons, Frederick Allen, Karnell (Jennie), Eddie Lewis, Sylvester McKinney; grandchildren, Shalimar (Yasaar) Mohammed, Eric Buell, Sarina Brown, Essie Brown, Robert “Baby June” Brown, William Duane Brown, Mary (Aaron) Taylor, Dr. Angelo Scruggs, Charline Wright; brother, James (Virginia) McKinney; special nieces, Carol, Alice, Ruby, Faye, Linda, JoAnne, Jackie; special nephews, James Jr., Larry, Jackie; one sister-in-law; three brothers-in-law; many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends, including special cousins June Landfair, Robert Maynor, DH, TJ, Johnny Collier “Fats” and Melvin (Rosie) Scruggs.

The family would like to express special thanks to their family and friends for their love and support, Ivan E. Phillips and the Staff of Paradise Funeral Chapel.
