Doris D. Outlaw (Lansing)

September 28, 1934 — September 19, 2020

Mrs. Doris D. Outlaw transitioned to her heavenly home on Saturday, September 19, 2020 at her residence surrounded by her love ones in Lansing, Michigan. She was born on September 28, 1934 to Carrie Dell Dixon and L.C. Sims in LaFayette, Alabama.

Doris relocated to Lansing, Michigan in 1950. She met and married Roy Outlaw and together they had two children, Andrew and Mary. Doris welcomed into the family two stepchildren, Dawn Davis and Sonya Lemon.

Doris was a proud Eastsider and loved having family around. She lived at 1118 Leslie Street for 50 years. This is where she raised not only her children, but also two grandchildren, Shameka and Michael Best, three great grandchildren, Tyann and Jalin Best, LaMya McKissic, and many other relatives such as nieces and nephews. Doris was known as “grandma” to the many kids she babysat and the neighborhood kids that she would come in contact with.

Doris was a faithful member of Lively Faith Temple until her health began to fail. But that did not stop her from praising the Lord! She fought a good fight until God decided to call her to her heavenly home.

Doris leaves to cherish her precious memories her daughter, Mary Outlaw; son, Andrew Outlaw; grandchildren, Shameka Best, Michael (Shannon) Best; great grandchildren, Tyann Best, LaMya McKissic, Jalin Best; brother, Eugene Shelley; two step-children, Dawn Davis, Sonya Lemon; and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Carrie Ethel Dixon.
