Deacon Freddie Reed

February 5, 1939 — June 27, 2022

 


Our Beloved, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Deacon Freddie Reed, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, June 27, 2022, at his residence, with his family at his side. He was born February 5th, 1939, in Saginaw, Michigan, son of the late Otis Reed, Sr. and Vera Gladys Reed.


Deacon Reed accepted Christ and was baptized at Bethlehem Baptist Church where he served faithfully as a Deacon until his health failed. He retired from truck driving in 2003.  Deacon Reed was a former member of Bridgeport Gun Club where he enjoyed target practice. He also loved to hunt. Deacon Reed will be greatly missed by family and friends.


His memory will be cherished by his daughters, Jacqueline Ruffin, Barbara Reed, Vera (Greg) Hayes, and Linda Reed; five grandchildren, David Darnell Ruffin and Brandon Edwin Conley, Scottie DeMarko Robinson, Dominique Ruffin, and Dannyae; three great-grandchildren, Peyton Ruffin, Brooklyn Conley, and Jade Ruffin; three sisters, Geraldine Harrison, Saginaw,  Michigan, Sharon  McClain, Lansing, Michigan, and Linda Reed, California; two brothers, Otis (Barbara) Reed, Saginaw, Michigan, and Bobby Hill, Byron, Georgia; four sisters-in-law, Sally Thomas, Rose Marie Burney, Mary Ellen Reed and Marjorie Reed; brothers-in-law, Henry Thomas, Tommy Thomas and Billy Joe Thomas; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends whom he truly loved.


Freddie was preceded in death by his wife of forty-seven years, Mary Ellen Reed; parents, Otis Reed Sr. and Vera Reed; three brothers, James, Leroy, and Leonard Reed; one sister, Kathern Levonne Reed, and two daughters, Donna, and Renee Reed.


The family wishes to give special thanks to Pastor Lafayette Simpson and Bethlehem Baptist Church Family, Fresenius Kidney Care, Elara Nursing Care, Covenant HealthCare, Dad’s barber, Rawleigh Madlock, Jr., and Ivan E. Phillips and the Staff at Paradise Funeral Chapel.
