Mr. David Lee Berry, beloved husband, father, brother, cousin, and friend passed away December 19, 2021, at the age of 72 years. He was born in Troy, Alabama to the late Arthur & Nancy Berry. David graduated in 1968 from Shellhorn High School in Alabama where he excelled in basketball. That same year he moved to Michigan.
David was employed for over 37 years and retired from General Motors (Saginaw Steering Gear) in 2006. He was a member of UAW Local 699. David enjoyed driving Cadillac cars and would keep them so clean that you could see him a mile down the street. He enjoyed the outdoors, and would spend time doing yardwork in the summer and winter.
David had a profound sense of humor, enjoyed spending time with family, pulling pranks, telling jokes, and laughing. He was a joy to be around. David was a member of the Epicurian Elks Lodge #674 of Saginaw.
David is survived by his wife of 47 years, Mary; two daughters, Matisa Ellison and Kaylaya Berry; two sons, Shahada (Sharecca) Hardwick and Kenard O’Neal; six grandchildren, Dalvin, Kingston David, Jacobi Berry, Anisa, Amara and Anaya Hardwick; one brother, Arthur Berry, favorite cousin, Levi B. Jiles Sr., and best friends, Jimmie Louis Anderson, Denver Bradley, and Raymond Tyler.
David was preceded in death by his mother and father; sisters, Gussie Ruth, Annie Lois, and Lillie Pearl Berry, and an incredibly special granddaughter, Brytnae J Berry.
