Cora Lee Crump (Lansing)

July 25, 1944 — September 15, 2021

Cora Lee Crump (Hoskins), a devoted wife, loving mother, and grandmother was called home to our Lord and Savior on Wednesday, September 15, 2021, at the age of 77 years. She was born in Memphis, Tennessee to her parents, Reuben Hoskins and Rethia Evans on July 25, 1944. She confessed to the Lord and Savior at an early age.

Cora L. Crump was joined in holy matrimony to Rubin S. Crump on June 19 in Sumner, Mississippi. In 1965, Cora and Rubin relocated to Lansing, Michigan where they raised their seven children. She began her career at the United States Postal Service from 1969 until she retired in 2000. She was a faithful member of Union Missionary Baptist Church where she participated in many activities including singing in the gospel choir, the health ministry, and then she became a mother of the church. She was a mother to many always giving and helping others. She enjoyed watching her children and grandchildren participate in sports, plays, and dance. She loved going to the movies and luncheons with her friends especially her Red Hats.

She leaves to cherish her memory five sons, Gary (Brenda) of California, Frederick of California, Arron of Michigan, LaBrayon, Sr. (Kelly) of Michigan, and LeVertis, Sr. of Michigan; two daughters, Gwyn of California, and Sharon of Michigan; 13 grandchildren, Aaron, Deanna (Eddie Jr.), Mercedes (DeCordeay Sr.), Jacob (Samantha), Matthew (Kristina), Crystal, LaBrayon Jr, Ketriana, Bryce, LeVertis Jr., Brenna, Mya and Loah; seven great-grandchildren, Jayla, Arianna, DeCordeay Jr., Eddie III, LaBrayon III, Penelope, and Elliot; four brothers, Reuben (Annie Lee) of Louisiana, Larry (Barbara) of Michigan, Cecil of Michigan, Irving of Tennessee; one sister, Afrieka of Tennessee; five aunts, Shirley of Mississippi, Catherine (Edward) of Mississippi, Bobby of Tennessee, Beatrice of Michigan and Joann of Mississippi; many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives including honorary sons, Canaan Bey and RaShawn Blackwell, and friends.

Cora was preceded in death by her husband, Rubin S. Crump; parents, Reuben Hoskins, Mary E. Hoskins, Rethia Evans and Thomas Evans; grandmothers, Mary J Hoskins and Talmas Hoskins; brothers, David “DL”, Anderson “Sonny”, Thomas Jr. “June bug”; aunts, Alvera, Gladys, Flord, Dorothy, Verneter, and Clara; uncles, T.J., Walter, and Talmas.
